MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) East Africa is inviting Uganda’s upcoming filmmakers to apply for its 2026 training cohort.
Applications close on February 27, offering a rare opportunity for aspiring creatives to join a structured, industry-supported programme designed to turn raw talent into professional expertise.
MTF is a year-long film and television training programme that addresses the skills gap in Africa’s creative industry. It combines classroom learning with hands-on production experience, mentorship, and industry exposure.
Graduates leave the programme with real credits, professional networks, and career momentum. Training focuses on key areas including storytelling, directing, producing, cinematography, editing, audio, scriptwriting, and production management.
“Africa’s film and TV industry is expanding rapidly, and the demand for local content on platforms like DStv and GOtv is rising,” said Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager, MultiChoice Uganda. “The real gap is skilled talent. MultiChoice Talent Factory exists to bridge that gap by equipping young creatives with global-standard skills in all aspects of production.”
Jamugisa emphasized that applying to MTF is a significant step for any creative looking to unlock their full potential. “We have seen remarkable enthusiasm from young creatives across the region. With our current cohort training in Nairobi, now is a critical moment. The programme seeks ambitious and disciplined creatives, giving them the tools to compete on a global stage.”
Since its East African launch, MTF has trained dozens of filmmakers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and beyond. Many alumni have gone on to work on major productions, winning awards, securing commissions, and building networks that open real industry doors.
MTF alumni have collectively produced over 40 films reaching more than 12 million viewers, while creating numerous jobs for professionals including sound designers, producers, and editors. Their work has aired on Showmax, Maisha Magic, Africa Magic, and other platforms.
Currently, four Ugandan filmmakers—Giovanni Yona Namulya, Asiimire Owobushoborozi, Fredrik Mayiga, and Denzel Everd Maniple—are in Nairobi, gaining mentorship from industry experts and collaborating with peers across East Africa. Their experience in the programme is laying the foundation for careers that could redefine the region’s cinema landscape.
